IPv6 Static Routing
The length of an IPv6 address is 128 bits, compared with 32 bits in IPv4. The address space therefore has 2128 or approximately3.4×1038
addresses (340,282,366,920,938,463,463,374,607,431,768,211,456, which
is approximately 340 undecillion, or 340 billion billion billion
billion, addresses.
IPv6 addresses use 128 bits to represent an address which includes bits
to be used for subnetting. The second half of the address (least
significant 64 bits) is always used for hosts only. Therefore, there is
no compromise if we subnet the network.
